piercings, dramatic haircuts, and bipolar shifts in wardrobe, teens subject
themselves to drastic superficial changes perhaps more so than other
demographic. The teen years are a period of self-discovery and of forming your
own personal identity, establishing independence from the parents and from
society and toying with rebellion. Despite their attempts to become different,
reports reflect a higher degree of teens taking part in an identical behavior :
dieting. There are many factors that
contribute to some teen's alternative todiet.
The
Media

media, which tells young women they should value thinness over all other
